So much so that the maximum temperatures have been sky high. In fact, the maximum at the Palam observatory settled at a whopping 44.7 degrees which amounts to heatwave. Today seems to be even hotter and it is expected that the temperatures may cross the 45 degree mark today as well.
However, rain gods are all set to give some relief in the form of some thunderstorm and dust storm activity along with isolated rainfall.
According to the weather experts of Skymet Weather, an induced cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over Pakistan and adjoining areas soon after the impact of Western Disturbance in the hills of North India. A trough is also likely to extend from this system up to Delhi.
Due to these weather features, the humidity levels will increase in the atmosphere tomorrow evening onward, due to which partly cloudy conditions are expected to prevail. Rain intensity is expected to increase May 17 onward.
Thus, Delhi and the NCR region may witness some rain and thundershower activity between May 17 and 19. With this, there is a possibility of a slight dip in the maximums and minimums. Some areas may observe some light rainfall as well.
While no significant rainfall is likely, there will be some relief from the heatwave conditions. It is likely that the temperature may drop by 2-3 degrees due to which residents will heave a sigh of relief.
Not only this, another spell of rain is also expected between May 21 and 23. During this period, some good showers may occur over Delhi bringing some significant relief from the prevailing weather conditions.
