Chennai weather has played enough games already. The weather conditions have remained hot and dry with rain gods remaining far away from the capital city of Tamil Nadu. While there have been a few traces of rain and some thunderstorm activity, it seems like rain gods have decided to turn their back against Chennai.
There have been rain instances in many parts of Tamil Nadu, especially the interior parts. However, Chennai has remained dry with rains giving the city a miss.
As far as temperatures are concerned, they have remained above the normal levels. While a day ago, the maximums did settle at around 38 degrees, yesterday, they settled at a whopping 40.2 degrees which happens to be two notches above the normal levels.
Since Chennai is a coastal station, heatwave is declared when the maximum goes beyond the 40-degree mark. Thus, the city is now under the tight grip of heatwave conditions. Not only this, the weather conditions are expected to remain the same during the next few days.
Marginal relief is in sight only next week. Around Monday, a trough is likely to develop in proximity of Chennai and its adjoining areas. With this, the capital city of Tamil Nadu may receive some rainfall activity on May 29.
With this, temperatures may witness a slight drop and the residents of Chennai might get some relief from the prevailing weather conditions.
