Heat wave has built up over many parts of the country for the last three days. In fact, yesterday, some areas also recorded a maximum at or above 45 degrees Celsius including Prayagraj, Churu, Datia, Jhansi, Bikaner, Bundi, Daltonganj and Khajuraho.
This is the first widespread heat over such a large part including parts of Uttar Pradesh, parts of Madhya Pradesh and even covering isolated pockets of Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The weather system will start approaching the northern parts which will further move towards the east. This will reduce the temperatures across the regions mentioned above due to the proximity of the weather system. Thus, heatwave may abate from most parts.
