Most parts of the country are witnessing intense heatwave conditions. So much so that sweltering heat has been wreaking havoc over many areas. Temperatures have begun to settle in the early 40s.
While it was Northwest India and the southern parts of the country where heatwave had made an appearance, the eastern parts of India have also begun to come under the blanket of severe heatwave conditions.
Parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha are observing sky high maximums and it is only the end of March. One such city where very high maximums have been recorded is Jamshedpur. Here, the maximum temperature had crossed the 40-degree mark a week ago.
However, yesterday, the maximum temperature in the steel city of India had settled at a whopping 43.3 degrees. This temperature is at least 7 degrees above the normal levels resulting in heatwave conditions.
The last time Jamshedpur witnessed such weather conditions was about 13 years ago on March 23, 2004 when the maximum was recorded at 42.5 degree Celsius.
Presently, the minimum temperature at 26 degrees is also around 5 degree Celsius above the normal levels.
These weather conditions are attributed to the inflow of north northwesterly winds from areas where temperatures are already on the higher side. Thus, East India is also undergoing heatwave conditions.
Similar weather is expected to continue in Jamshedpur for the next few days. As we move towards the month of April, weather conditions will become even hotter resulting in even hotter and uncomfortable days for the residents of the region.
