The heatwave has slowly and gradually gripped most parts of the country not even sparing the state well known for its culture, Gujarat. The day temperatures across the state rose up steadily.
Skymet Weather in its earlier post has already mentioned about the possibility of heatwave conditions making a comeback and that unfortunately happened. The daytime high shot up several notches beyond the average normal thereby leading to heatwave conditions.
In fact, on Monday only, the heatwave has enthralled the given below districts of Gujarat:
However, the mercury levels at the other districts like Ahmedabad, Deesa, Idar, Vadodara, and Amreli also rose tremendously settling above 40°C.
As per Skymet Weather, the sudden change in the wind direction is to blame for the rising mercury levels. Moreover, an upper air anti-cyclonic circulation has formed over North Arabian Sea. Due to this, the northerly and northeasterly winds are traveling all along the desert states and reaching over Gujarat and southern parts of Rajasthan.
In the wake of this, the temperatures are swelling approx. 5-9 degrees above its normal mark. Further, these dry and warm winds are expected to continue prevailing over most parts of the state. Thus, no changes in the temperature profile are expected. In fact, due to these winds, temperatures are expected to rise further.
Hence, Gujarat stands a strong chance of experiencing heat wave to severe heatwave conditions mainly along the coast for the next 48 -72 hours. In a nutshell, no chances of relief are likely in Gujarat.
