The month of March was pleasant for Delhi, except for a couple of days, wherein temperatures clocked to 34.1 degrees Celsius, immediately after Holi. A rise was seen during the fag end of March as well where temperatures reached to 39.2 degrees Celsius.
After that, the weather came to be relaxed again, however, a spike has been seen since yesterday. Palam observatory recorded a whopping 40.4 degrees, which happens to be the highest of the season. Safdarjung recorded 38.2 degrees Celsius as its maximum temperature, which is the highest as well.
Temperatures here are above 5 to 6 degrees above the normal, which means heatwave conditions have gripped the national capital.
In the month of April, Delhi does see maximums above 40 degrees almost always, and is not an unusual occurrence. Sometimes, these temperatures even go beyond 45 degrees. Talking about averages, maximums begin at around 35 degrees Celsius, and end around 39 degrees Celsius.
Today also, the maximum may cross yesterday’s maximum, and the Safdarjung observatory may also reach 40 degrees today.
However, now, the temperatures are likely to be arrested tomorrow onward as a Cyclonic Circulation is over the Northern Plains, thus, Delhi is expected to witness dust storm and thunderstorm. Some rainfall activity is also expected. These weather activities are expected to continue for the next three days, due to which temperatures may drop by a couple of degrees, abating heatwave conditions. Temperatures will only increase around April 10 now.
