As iterated by Skymet Weather, summer is expected to be harsh this year. The glimpse of this can be very well seen in the present day weather scenario. The weather condition across most parts of the country is already breaking records and resting several notches above the normal mark.
In general, pre-Monsoon season starts from the month of March and continues until May. As per Skymet Weather, normally, pre-Monsoon activities start to intensify in April. But till date, not much weather activity was observed in the months of March as well as in April so far.
Though occasional rain and thundershowers have occurred in parts but it did not had any impact over the soaring mercury. The northwestern plains had witnessed isolated rainy spells during the initial period of April around 4-5 but these rain activities are much lesser in comparison with the rains that appeared during the last 3- 4 years.
2014 saw many incidents of rain and thundershowers along with hailstorm. Moreover, when compared with the present day scenario, April 2014 remained less warm as temperatures remained below normal.
Though at present, not much changes in the prevailing weather condition are expected and no significant weather activities are likely for at least another one week. The lack of pre-Monsoon rains will further aggravate heatwave conditions across many parts of northwestern plains in the coming week. And thus, the entire Northwest, East and Central India will brace for soaring mercury.
The day temperatures are predicted to rise gradually. At present, many parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh are witnessing temperatures 40°C and above.
Maximums in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also settling on the higher side, leading to extremely hot weather conditions.
On the other hand, Gujarat, West Rajasthan and some parts of Haryana are already experiencing heatwave conditions.
The temperature in Delhi is also expected to cross the 40-degree mark in the next 48 hours and this will be the case in many parts of West Bengal, Haryana and most parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
