The notorious heatwave has given a breather to most parts of the country. In fact, Pre-Monsoon rains have become the highlight with most parts in India witnessing good Pre-Monsoon activity. All thanks to the persisting weather systems over several parts which continue to keep heatwave at bay.
However, there is just one state in the country where heatwave continues to spread its wings and no relief has been witnessed despite the appearance of isolated Pre-Monsoon showers. The state happens to be Odisha where weather gods continue to throw in bouts of the scorching summer heat.
These weather conditions can be attributed to the presence of northwesterly winds which are hot and dry in nature and are blowing over the region for quite some time now. In fact, while many areas have been observing maximums above the 40-degree mark, isolated pockets have witnessed the maximums close to 45 degrees as well.
Presently, the maximums in the state as follows. Bhawanipatna 43.8 degrees (4 degrees above normal), Angul 44 .7 degrees (6 degrees above normal), and Balasore 40 degrees (5 degrees above normal).
As per weathermen at Skymet, these weather conditions will continue over the Odisha region for at least the next 48 hours. Thereafter, southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea region will result in a drop of temperatures as the trough will move southwestward. Thus, relief from heatwave is only expected after 48 hours.
