The weather over Gujarat and West Rajasthan remained dry and hot to such an extent that both the regions are reeling under heatwave conditions along with mercury soaring above the normal levels. This clearly shows that harsh and relentless summertime is here. In fact, the mercury is nearing 40 degree mark in some parts.
Though, pre-Monsoon rains occurred over northwestern plains, but even that rainy spell has taken a backseat and dry weather is likely to continue.
At present, most parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan are witnessing maximum temperatures above 37°C. These weather conditions are due to pressure gradient and approaching Western Disturbance. Due to this, dry and warm winds will blow across the region, giving clear sky with bright sunny days.
On Saturday, Bikaner and Churu in Rajasthan recorded maximums of 38.6°C, Jaisalmer 38.7°C, Barmer 40.2°C; whereas Ahmedabad and Deesa in Gujarat recorded maximum temperature of around 39°C, Amreli 39.8°C, Bhuj 39.6°C, Rajkot recorded 39.5°C and Surat 37.8°C.
As we proceed towards the month of April, with such high temperatures over Gujarat and Rajasthan, scattered places of both the states will continue to witness heatwave conditions.
