Heatwave conditions over several parts of India, marginal relief likelySummer has made a grand entrance over several parts of the country.

Presently, many areas in Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are reeling under severe heatwave conditions. Isolated pockets in Uttar Pradesh are also experiencing similar conditions.

Maximums are above normal at many places in Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema, parts of Chhattisgarh and Interior Odisha.

Several areas in the country have been observing maximums above 40 degree Celsius.

Jaipur has also been witnessing hot weather conditions where the maximum has crossed the 40-degree mark. Other areas have also been reeling under heatwave conditions. For instance, Jhansi observed a maximum of 43.1°C, Delhi 41.2°C, Churu 42.5°C, Akola 43.7°C, Nizamabad 43.3°C, and Gulbarga 42.6°C.

These conditions can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over these areas. In addition to that, dry and hot winds are blowing from Balochistan and Sindh province in Pakistan over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Hot weather conditions will continue for another 24 hours. After that, isolated rainfall activity is likely over parts of Central and Northwest India. These rains will bring in marginal relief from the current hot conditions.

A Western Disturbance and an induced cyclonic circulation will be responsible for giving rain over Northwest India. On the other hand, a trough is expected from Chhattisgarh to South Interior Karnataka across Maharashtra, which will result in isolated showers over South Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Vidarbha.

While these rains will bring in some relief from the heatwave conditions, temperatures will continue to witness a rise after the reduction of the rainfall activity. All in all, intense heat is likely to grip most of the country in the coming days.
