At present, Heatwave condition is continuing at some places over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu region, with temperatures being observed in plus 40 category.
At present, a Cyclonic Circulation lies over Central parts of Karnataka and a trough from this system is extending up to Southeast Arabian Sea.
This system yesterday brought in, thunderstorm and thundershower activities along with strong gusty winds over a few parts of Tamil Nadu and some coastal stations. This intense activity will continue until today at many parts of Tamil Nadu and with one or two moderate spells over the interior parts especially close to the Nigiri areas. Affected areas from rains and thundershower are Coimbatore, Erode, Kodaikanal, Ooty, Salem and isolated pockets of rest parts of Tamil Nadu covering Chennai. Isolated activity is also possible over Rayalaseema i.e. Anantapur, Kurnool and Tirupati region.
This, rain and thundershower activity will reduce further tomorrow onward over the Eastern parts with isolated activity continuing over West and extreme South.
These continuing rains will lead to day temperatures dropping by 2-3 degree Celsius over these areas.
Talking about yesterday, while Chennai observed 33.4°C, Coimbatore 36.7°C, Karaikal 33.5°C, Salem 38.8°C, Vellore 38.4°C and Tiruchirapalli recorded 39.3°C. If this is not less its definitely a relief from the ongoing temperatures.
Today we are expecting these temperatures to drop even further by about two to three degrees, coming down to 35 to 37°C at many places.
