Almost all the states of the country received pre-monsoon activities on April 21st. Northern and northwestern states of the country such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and parts of Uttar Pradesh received dust storm, thunderstorms and rain. All other states witnessed rain and thunderstorm activity, leading to a drop in in maximum temperatures. Heatwave abated the entire country.
Weather system responsible for these pre monsoon activities over Northwest India has already weakened. Easterly winds are being replaced by dry and hot westerly and North westerly winds. Temperatures have increased during last 24 hours.
There will be a gradual increase in temperatures over most parts of Northwest, Central and East India. Heat wave conditions may make a comeback over many parts of the country in next 48 hours. We do not expect any significant pre-monsoon activities during next one week. Therefore, short relief from hot weather conditions is over now.
