The heat wave being experienced in Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and parts of Chhattisgarh is expected to continue for the next two days. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, day temperatures in the above mentioned areas would continue to remain above normal by 4 to 6⁰C as hot winds from the northwest direction are reaching these places.
Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha recorded the maximum temperature at 42°C, which is six notches above normal for the city during the month of March. Kolkata in West Bengal also recorded the day temperature at 39.9°C, 6°C above normal. Jamshedpur in Jharkhand recorded 41.2°C as the maximum temperature on Sunday, which is again 5°C above normal. The other places that are in the grip of heat wave are Angul, Balasore, Sambalpur, Titlagarh in Odhisha, Raipur, Jagdalpur and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh and Bankura in West Bengal.
However, southern parts of Chhattisgarh, coastal Odisha and hill stations like Ranchi in Jharkhand would not face heat wave during the period. Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh will also not observe such high day temperatures during the next two days.
Weather in North India over northwest plains and hills have become clear of clouds and rain due to which temperatures will rise on Monday and Tuesday. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, a fresh Western Disturbance would again make the weather in these parts cloudy with chances of rain from tomorrow night. This spell of clouds and rain would continue till the 2nd of April and clear by the 3rd of April. The weather system (WD) will have a cyclonic circulation over Western Rajasthan, there would also be chances of rain in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh possibly on 2nd April.
Due to lack of clouds and rain, Central and Southern India would continue to witness day temperatures in the early forties, which is usual during these times. But similar temperatures being witnessed in East India at the moment is considered to be significantly above normal.
Meanwhile, coastal areas on both the flanks of the country will observe temperatures in the mid-thirties for the next two days.
