In the last 24 hours, dry weather and clear sky conditions prevailed over most parts of Rajasthan, paving way for hot winds. Many places in the state were under the grip of heat wave like condition, with mercury settling above 40 degree-mark.
This sudden rise of maximum temperatures has been observed due to the approaching West Disturbance over the Western Himalayas and direct sunshine. Yesterday, Phalodi recorded 43.6˚C, followed by Kota 43.4˚C, Bhilwara 41.8˚C, Jaipur 41.3˚C and Tonk 42.9˚C.
At present, the Western Disturbance is moving across north parts of Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Its induced cyclonic circulation is seen over North Rajasthan. Thus today, the northern parts of Rajasthan will witness dust storm and thundershower activities.
Weather Alert: Spell of dust storm and thundershowers with strong winds (50-70 kmph) are likely over Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittaurgarh, Churu, Dausa, Dhaulpur, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Karauli, Kota, Nagaur, Pali, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar and Tonk during the next 6-8 hours.
Thereafter, in the wake of these weather systems, the night temperatures will decrease. Since these weather activities would be during the later part of the day, there would be just momentary relief from scorching heat.
Places like Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sikar, Bikaner, Kota and Tonk will continue to observe heatwave like condition.
Thereafter, day temperatures will steadily rise, and heat wave conditions will intensify further from April 10. Even though, next spell of rain and thundershowers will affect the region around April 12.
