Updated on May 27, 12:55 pm (IST): No respite from simmering heat wave in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
Severe heat wave refuses to slow down in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, which has killed at least 1100 people in last week.
The two southern states have been worst affected. Reportedly, 852 people have died in Andhra Pradesh, while death toll in Telangana reached around 269.
However, Skymet Meteorology Division in India has predicted rain and thundershowers in later part of Wednesday, giving temporary relief over these states. In wake of this, maximum temperatures are expected to drop by two degrees that may lead the heat wave to abate from these states.
A trough, which has been extending from Bihar till Andhra Pradesh along the coast line will trigger some weather activity over the places along the trough line.

Although, heat wave conditions will take a back seat statistically, the day temperatures will continue to settle above 40-degree mark, making days uncomfortable.
State governments have been repeatedly issuing warnings and also setting up makeshift medical camps to tackle heatwave related incidents and deaths.

Updated on May 25, 3:55 pm (IST): Telangana, Andhra Pradesh worst affected due to heat wave
As the blazing heat wave remains unabated, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh remain the worst affected states. Over 400 people have been reported dead so far from both the states, which is the highest from any region so far.
As per the data released by state governments, Andhra Pradesh has reported 246 deaths till Sunday while Telangana has put the toll at 188. Most of the victims were homeless or labourers who were exposed to sweltering heat, which led to heat strokes.
There is no respite in sight for next 48 hours as well, as mercury is expected soar further. However, brief respite is expected thereafter, as scattered thundershowers are predicted over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
At present, maximum temperatures across the two states are settling five to eight degrees above normal. On Sunday, Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh recorded 47.3°C, which is the highest in last 10 years.

People across the coastal stations in Andhra Pradesh are suffering the most. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, coastal areas do not witness such temperatures. With the increase in heat, the humidity levels have also increased as winds blow from the sea, creating uncomfortable weather conditions.
