With mercury touching new limits, heat wave is being observed in several parts of Delhi-NCR region, leaving Delhiites to reel under the sweltering heat.

However, weather models indicate dust storms and thunderstorms are likely in Delhi during the afternoon hours of Tuesday. Moreover, these conditions will remain favourable throughout the day for such spells with strong winds blowing with the speed of 40 kmph to 60 kmph.

This weather activity will bring temporary relief from the heat, but it will not have much impact on temperature profile. Since these activities generally occur during later part of the day, so, by that time maximum temperature would have already peaked.

At present, Delhi has already recorded 42°C and is likely to settle around 43°C.

In the absence of any weather activity, maximum temperatures in national capital are following a rising trend and are settling three to four degrees above normal average temperature of 39.5°C.

On Monday, Palam Observatory in Delhi recorded 44°C, which was the highest maximum temperature of the season, so far. As per the latest forecast by Skymet, no respite is likely from increasing temperatures during the next few days as well.

Let us have a look at the maximum temperatures across Delhi-NCR on Monday.
