Heatwave persists over East and Central India, temperatures rise in Telangana

Heat waveIn the last couple of days, marginal relief from heatwave conditions have been observed across the country, particularly in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The day temperature in both the states is settling close to normal. For instance, Ahmedabad saw the day temperature settle at 42.2°C on Friday, which is one degree above normal. In Deesa too, the maximum settled at 42.2°C, which is 2 degrees above normal. Maximums in Rajkot, Baroda and Bhuj are also settling 2 to 3 degrees above normal, which indicates that the temperature here is a little comfortable compared to other parts of the country.

Weather in Telangana

Telangana and Rayalaseema, where the death toll due to heatwave has crossed over 1,900 was also experiencing marginal relief. But an upward trend in day temperature is again being witnessed. On Friday Hanamkonda recorded the day temperature at 45.4°C, which is 4 degrees above normal. Hyderabad also saw the maximum settle 4 degrees above normal at 42.6°C. Nizamabad and Ramagundam were sizzling at 45.4°C and 46.5°C, respectively, which is 4 degrees above normal. According to weathermen at Skymet, the day temperature in the region is going sustain for another 2-3 days.

Weather in Central and East India

Central and East India are the two regions where heat wave conditions still persist with some places recording day temperature above normal by 5-7 degrees. For example, Daltonganj in Jharkhand recorded 46.8°C as the day temperature on Friday, which is 6 degrees above normal. In Giridih the maximum settled 7 degrees above normal at 43.8°C.

Chandrapur in Vidarbha in Central India saw the maximum settle at 47.6°C, which is 5 degrees above the monthly average. It is also the hottest place in the country at the moment. Nagpur and Wardha were also observing intense heat on Friday as the day temperature in both the cities settled at 46.6°C and 46°C, respectively.

Weather Forecast

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, there is some weather activity along the trough line, which is running through Jharkhand, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh up to Karnataka in the next 2 days. But these weather activity will largely happen during late afternoon or evening hours. Therefore there isn’t much respite expected in the day temperatures.
