The state of Rajasthan has been witnessing very hot weather with heat wave in many parts. So much so that most cities in Rajasthan are observing maximums above 45 degrees and some of them are even settling in the late 40s.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature in Churu settled at a whopping 50.3 degrees Celsius. Not only this, Churu was yesterday the hottest city in the world followed by Jacobabad in Pakistan at 50.1 degrees Celsius.
Moreover, in the top 10 hottest cities of the world, five of them are from India and that too from Rajasthan. Sri Ganganagar has settled at 48.8 degrees Celsius, Bikaner 48.4 degrees, Phalodi 48 degrees and Sawai Madhopur 47.7 degrees.
During this time, West Asian and Middle East countries remain as the hottest pockets in the world. The Western Disturbances which provide some relief from the prevailing heat are also absent resulting in above normal temperatures in the hills as well.
Apart from Rajasthan, the other states in the Plains of North India are also observing heat wave conditions and apart from isolated dust storm and light rain activities, no significant relief is foreseen in the coming days. These regions will continue to swelter with very hot weather conditions.
