After witnessing a short spell of pre-Monsoon weather activity, the state of Rajasthan has been experiencing dry and very warm weather conditions for the last few days. In the wake of dry weather, temperatures in the state have been rising continuously.
Yesterday, Sri Ganganagar recorded the day temperature at 44.6˚C, followed by Churu 44.2˚C, Phalodi 44.0˚C, Barmer 43.9˚C, Jaisalmer 43.8˚C and Bikaner 43.2˚C.
Due to rising temperatures, heat wave conditions may reappear over parts of Rajasthan soon, with day temperatures settling around 45˚C.
Thereafter, we expect isolated dust storm activity followed by a rainy spell and thundershower in parts of northern and northwestern parts of Rajasthan on May 9 and 10. During this period, the remaining parts of the state will continue to observe heat wave conditions.
However, around May 11, the intensity and spread of rain will increase over most parts of Rajasthan. On May 13 and 14, fairly widespread weather activities in the form of dust storm, rain, thundershowers and strong winds will occur over many parts of Rajasthan.
These pre-Monsoon weather activities will occur in association with an active Western Disturbance affecting the hills of North India and its induced cyclonic circulation over parts of Rajasthan. Along with this, humid winds from Arabian Sea will also increase moisture over the area.
Thus, we can say that occasional dust storm, rain and thundershower activities are likely to continue over many parts of Rajasthan between May 12 and May 16.
