March 14, 2022 8:25 PM |

Mumbai weather has been sweltering since the past few days with maximums settling way above the normal levels. Soaring mercury levels were seen today as well wherein the city witnessed the maximum rising to a whopping 39.6 degrees, which is the highest this season.

The previous high was at 38.9 degrees, recorded day before yesterday but today's mercury levels have broken that record as well. Heat wave has gripped the city of Mumbai as for coastal stations, a heat wave is declared when maximums touch 38 degrees and are 4 degrees above the normal levels.

In fact, in the past one week, Mumbai's maximums have been settling above the 35 degrees mark and the conditions are expected to remain the same. Moreover, a further increase in the mercury levels can also be seen in the next couple of days.

Sea breeze which usually settles in at about 12.30 pm or so, arrests the maximums from settling on the higher side. However, with the breeze settling later than 1-1.30 pm, temperatures usually already reach their peak point.
