Monsoon is around the corner, with just a week or so left for its onset. Usually, at this time, the peaking temperatures are kept under a check by the pre-Monsoon activities. However, it’s a little different this time, with most parts of the country gearing up for even hotter weather and severe heat wave conditions.
There’s a long list to the states which have been recording such above normal temperatures. Many parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Interior Odisha, as well as Rayalaseema and isolated pockets of North Interior Karnataka are under the grip of heat wave. Moreover, isolated pockets of Vidarbha and Telangana are reeling under ‘severe’ heat wave conditions.
Moreover, now heat wave will spread even further and may cover some more parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Delhi and Haryana. Isolated pockets of West Gujarat may also come under the clutch of heat wave.
The reason for these weather conditions can be attributed to continuous dry weather and hot winds from West and Northwest direction. Also, there’s an absence of any Pre-Monsoon activity over most parts of Northwest, Central and East India as well as parts of South Peninsula.
Heat wave warning has been issued in many parts including the state of Telangana.
We do not expect any pre-Monsoon activity over most parts of Northwest and Central India at least for the next four to five days. Also, Monsoon is not yet to make an early arrival any soon. Therefore, there will not be any relief from heat wave over these areas. Weather will remain hot, uneasy with clear sky and bright sunshine. The effect of heat wave will be seen in the minimum temperatures as well, which will remain above normal.
