The eastern parts of the country have been seeing intense heat with many areas of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha observing heatwave conditions as well. For the next three days, one can expect heatwave conditions to continue, there may be some respite after that.
Yesterday, the maximum temperatures for many parts of West Bengal were above normal by 5-6 degrees with Bankura recording 43.7 degrees, Asansol 43 degrees, Berhampur 41.5 degrees, Malda 42.3 degrees, and Howrah 40 degrees. Even Kolkata are in excess of 40 degrees and 5 degrees above normals.
For Odisha, Baripada saw 44.2 degrees, Jharsuguda 43.4 degrees, Sambalpur 43.2 degrees, Angul 43.1 degrees, Titlagarh 43.1 degrees and Bolangir 43 degrees. Coastal stations also saw heat wave.
For the state of Bihar, Bhagalpur saw 42.4 degrees, Patna 43.2 degrees, and Gaya 43 degrees. Meanwhile, Daltonganj in Jharkhand recorded 43.4 degrees and Jamshedpur 42.5 degrees.
For the next three days, one can expect loo conditions to prevail and things will only improve thereafter.
