Heat wave is declared over a place when maximum temperature is above 40°C and four degrees above normal.
Scattered rain along with thunderstorms over Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have eased the temperatures. The wind pattern has also changed from hot northwesterlies to warm southwesterlies.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, two weather systems combined together have caused the weather activity. A cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Bihar and Jharkhand region and a trough from this is extending up to Karnataka. Thunderstorm activity will continue over these places for next 48 hours, predicts Skymet.
While another cyclonic circulation over west central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Coast is causing good rain over the coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Northwest India has also been witnessing prolonged spell of rain accompanied with thundershowers since Monday on account of Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and a cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining Rajasthan.
This had kept temperatures under check for the last three days. But as the weather systems move away in next two days, we expect the day temperatures to rise again over Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana an Uttar Pradesh.
According to the latest forecast by Skymet, maximum temperatures across the country will start rising from June 6 onwards.
