February itself was the driest and hot by all standards with heat wave conditions in many pockets of the country as well, which is a rare feature at least for the transition month. Konkan had heat wave, Rajasthan was hot and Gujarat was the hottest with Bhuj observing maximum around 40 degrees Celsius.

However, now a big spell of rains in terms of space and time is coming. Not only is the upcoming rainy spell widespread but also prolonged in nature. This will lead to some relief and abatement of heat, resulting in sufficient relief in terms of cloud cover providing some respite from bright sun and rains dropping the temperatures.

Starting March 16, temperatures will start to take a dip and moving further, drop may be by 4-5 degrees Celsius or so. For the first time, in the last month

Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and eastern parts will be the ones seeing rains. States like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil nadu, Karnataka, Telangana will also see rainfall.
