The FIFA World Cup is being held in November 2022 in Qatar and as with every World Cup, a theme song is created to exemplify the atmosphere and emotion of the event to get people pumped up and excited for the series. This year, it is a song called Hayya Hayya (Better Together) by Trinidad Cardona, Davido, and AISHA. RedOne, a prolific Moroccan-Swedish producer contributed as composer and producer of the song which was released on the 1st of April 2022.

Intro

The song starts off with a light beat pertaining to the main song’s theme with Trinidad Cardona and Davido singing a mixture of rap and melodious vocals both of which are positive and uplifting. The intro gives a flow that lets the listener know what to expect from the song going forward.

Vocal melody

The melody of the vocals is very familiar as it is a tried and tested form that promotes an inspiring feel for the listener. It doesn’t break any new ground but nonetheless has an optimistic tone that permeates throughout the entire song and is perfect for a major world sporting event.

Lyrics

The lyrics to the song are all in English and are simple and catchy with a lot of repetition that will no doubt become an earworm for people following the World Cup. This is done on purpose as the song is supposed to be memorable and enjoyable. Determining the FIFA World Cup 2022 odds is way more complicated. There is no hidden message in these lyrics, just an unpretentious note about unity and enjoying the moment.

Rhythm

The rhythm of the song is also very familiar and combines a mixture of R&B, Soul, and Reggae. It is not complicated and follows a pretty standard flow that has been heard many times over. There is no ground-breaking rhythm here, just an easy to listen to, laid-back tune that doesn’t require any sort of intense evaluation in order to achieve enjoyment.

Instrumental variety and balance

Instrumentally, the song goes all out with the variety you can expect from a song like this. It has a lot of different types of drums throughout, backed up by a solid bass line which adds gravity. It has the usual studio-produced beats and sounds that are commonly found in songs over the past few decades, but it works. There are no guitar or drums solos and each instrument is evenly paced over the duration of the song.

Structure

The structure of the song is fairly basic with the intro, then lyrics, then the main chorus, and is essentially repeated this way until the end of the song. The song length itself only clocks in at 3:27 so it is kept pretty tight and to the point. It strives to be as catchy as it can in the short time it has.

Commercial potential

It goes without saying that this song was produced for the sole purpose of being a flagship for the FIFA World Cup and it was always going to be a commercial success as it is being played on radio stations constantly all over the world and will be until the main event in November.

Video

The music video exemplifies the theme of the song, with all different races and cultures dancing together on the sandy dunes of Qatar. International flags are flying, everyone is happy and it encourages a happy vibe. The video is well-produced and it is edited in a way that gives off a fun and energetic atmosphere.
