The states of Punjab and Haryana continued to reel under the Cold Wave conditions. Along with this, light to moderate fog was also observed at many places over these states. The sky remained clear and the minimums remained almost unchanged.
This was on account of no significant system prevailing over the area. Now also, light and cold winds will continue to blow over the region. However, change in wind pattern is likely to take place over the area soon. Thus, we can expect a rise in night temperatures after 24 hours. But in coming 24 hours, there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures. Cold Wave conditions will prevail over the isolated pockets witnessing ground frost. Also, light to moderate fog at many places will prevail. Day will be sunny with haziness and sky will be clear.
Thereafter, we expect minimum temperatures to rise and Cold Wave conditions will gradually start diminishing from the areas by December 23 when the western disturbance will hit Jammu and Kashmir and its adjoining regions.
Today in Punjab, Adampur recorded the minimum at 0.9°C which has fallen by 0.6°C as compared to Thursday's minimum. In the state of Haryana, the lowest minimum has been recorded at Narnaul which is 2.5°C. Hisar recorded the minimums at 2.7°C. In the coming days, due to change in wind pattern, the Cold Wave conditions will fade away and minimums will then see a rise.
