In Picture- Damaged mustard crop due to gusty winds at Hanumangarh, Rajasthan
Rajasthan, in last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday has witnessed scattered rains along with hailstorm activity at many places like Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Suratgarh. Reason for these rain and thunderstorm activities can be attributed to the formation of an induced Cyclonic Circulation over North Rajasthan and its adjoining areas.
The unwelcome weather activity in the form of hailstorm has damaged Rabi crops in many villages, particularly that of mustard and gram. Thankfully, there was no major damage to crops like wheat and vegetables.
On the other hand, close to 15 flights both domestic and international had to be diverted due to the unruly weather from Jaipur Airport.
Meanwhile, day temperatures have dropped by five to six degrees across many districts of North and Central Rajasthan. Now the Cyclonic Circulation has faded away and moderate winds from snow-clad mountains from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are blowing over the state which has resulted in a significant drop in the minimums. For e.g. minimums in Churu dropped from 11.8°C to 3.5°C while the hills of Mount Abu recorded -1.4°C. Temperatures dropped by around six degrees in Bikaner too.
Many other cities like that of Ajmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Kota are also observing minimum temperatures deviate by four to six degrees below normal.
Cold Wave conditions seem to have made a comeback once again and are here to stay. Even the day temperatures are expected to see a drop as cold Northern winds will continue.
