Two kids from Gwalior have set a record of being the youngest climbers to reach the base camp of the world’s highest peak, the mighty Mount Everest. Five year old Kandarp Sharma along with his eight year old sister Ritvika reached the Everest base camp successfully on Tuesday. The base camp is at an altitude of 5,380 meters.

The expedition has been organized by Arun Treks and Expedition. The siblings are accompanied by their parents. This expedition was started to spread the message among the world climbers that the Everest trekking route has not been damaged after the massive Nepal Earthquake.

Not only have these two kids set individual records but they have also become the youngest brother and sister duo to trek the height. Only last year, Harshit aged 5 years 11 months, also from India had set the record. Kandarp, just a month younger has broken the record.

They are also the first family to climb the Kalapathar peak which is 5,550 meters high. The peak is higher than Mont Blanc in Europe (4810 m) and Puncak Jaya in Australasia (4884 m). The parents have said that they will try their best to get the names of the kids in the Guinness Book of World Records along with India’s Limca Book of Records.
