While heatwave conditions have been causing several problems in several parts of the country, rain gods seem a little too happy with Northeast India. So much so that many cities have been observing record breaking rain during the past few weeks.
While Cherrapunji has recorded a whopping 420 mm of rain in a span of 24 hours, Guwahati in Assam has once again observed hailstorm activity. Heavy showers have also been observed in many areas of Northeast India.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Guwahati recorded a whopping 47 mm of rain, followed by Dibrugarh where 22.2 mm rain was recorded.
Other areas to have received rain include Silchare where 50.2 mm rain was received, Mazbat 22.1 mm, and Tinsukia 16.5 mm.
Imphal in Manipur recorded a whopping 77 mm of rain which happens to be the highest in a decade. Several areas in Arunachal Pradesh also observed hailstorm activity. More rains are likely to lash several areas of Northeast India in the coming days.
