After remaining dry for last few days, Gujarat is expected to witness another spell of good Monsoon showers over its several areas. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, well-marked low pressure area is lying over southwest Madhya Pradesh, adjoining Maharashtra and Gujarat region.

In wake of this weather system, good showers are expected over Coastal Gujarat and Saurashtra region. While, rest parts of the state will witness light rain. Skymet forecasts that this spell of rain will continue for next 24 to 48 hours, with varying intensity.

As per the weather models, the system is likely to lose its strength during next 24 hours and will weaken into a low pressure area. However, it will continue to give rain over the region.

August started on a poor note for the western state of Gujarat, which has not witnessed any weather activity during the initial five days of the month. As on August 4, Gujarat region was surplus by 2 per cent, while Saurashtra and Kutch region was excess by 35 per cent. With these rain, we expect the surplus figure to increase further.

July also did not fare well for the state and Monsoon rains were witnessed during last 10 days only. As on July 31, Gujarat region was surplus by 11 per cent, while Saurashtra and Kutch region was excess by 42 per cent.
