Gujarat to witness first pre-Monsoon showers tomorrow

The rising temperatures have mainly affected the central and northwestern plains of the country including Gujarat and Maharashtra. Several parts of the country were witnessing heatwave conditions wherein the day temperatures were shooting up and settling close to the 45-degree mark.

The reason for the rising temperatures can be associated with the absence of any significant weather system. As rains remained absent from lashing the state, the temperatures went up leading to scorching days and making it quite difficult to step out in the sun.

However, as per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Gujarat and adjoining Maharashtra. A trough is also expected to form over Southern parts of Gujarat and adjoining coastal Maharashtra.

Due to both these weather systems, scattered light rain, and thundershowers are expected to show up in Gujarat and adjoining Maharashtra on May 6 and May 7. These rainy spells are said to be the first pre-Monsoon showers that the state will witness. However, these activities will be of a short duration and are likely to take place in the late afternoon or evening hours.

According to Skymet Weather, the winds will start blowing from the Arabian Sea which will be relatively humid and cool in nature. Thus, many districts of Gujarat like Surat, Valsad, Bharuch, Narmada, Vadodara, Dang, and Bhavnagar are expected to record scattered light rains in the next 24 hours.

Intense heatwave conditions which have been causing chaos in the region will abate in the next 24 hours and are not expected to make a comeback over the state for a further few days.
