Gujarat saw large fluctuations in terms of weather in the last 48 hours. The maximums that were witnessing a rising trend in the last 48 hours, dropped sharply in the last 24 hours.
The variation in the temperature profile across Gujarat has been occurring due to large fluctuations that the state experiences during winter months. The westernmost state of the country is affected by the weather of North India at one side and wind intrusion from the Arabian Sea on the other.
Parts of the state were under thick cloud cover for the past 3 days that resulted in drizzles at isolated stations including Amreli and Vadodara. Though the rains were of short duration, under their influence, the maximums that were soaring and running way above normal, came down steadily.

In the last 24 hours, the daytime highs of Amreli and Vadodara dropped 5 notches beneath the normal levels. For instance, Bhavnagar and Veraval saw the maximums settling 4 degrees below their normal, while Ahmedabad also saw a drop in the mercury levels by 4 degrees.

The stations lying along the coastal belt of the state also witnessed a drop in the maximums however, the fall as compared with the interiors was not as much.
The night temperatures on the contrary, saw a rise by 3-5 degrees. Vadodara, Idar and Deesa recorded the minimum temperatures above normal by 5 degrees each. Meanwhile, the minimum of Amreli was 3 degrees beyond the normal mark.
As per Skymet Weather, now the cloud cover is expected to reduce gradually over the state as the band of clouds could be seen shifting and clearing the region.
In the wake of this, most parts of Gujarat can anticipate clear and sunny skies. In the absence of rains, the day temperatures would once again rise sharply and may even inch closer to the normal levels. Meanwhile, the night temperatures are expected to witness a drop in the next 48 hours.
