Gujarat is one of the first states amongst a few which get heated up in the month of March. The state starts showing signs of heat in the fag end of February only.
However, in the first half of March, the temperature settles in higher 30s in Kutch as well as interior parts of Gujarat. While, in the second half of March, the temperature settle around 40 degrees.
This time, it was a little hot in the fag end of February as many locations in Gujarat saw their maximums exceeding 35 degrees and touched somewhere 36 or 37 degrees. However, if we talk about the first ten days of March, the weather has remained in comfort zone. Many locations did not even cross 35 degrees mark.
For instance, day temperatures at Ahmedabad settled at 34.8 degrees on March 1. Similarly, Rajkot recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees on March 2. While Bhuj in Kutch region failed to observe maximums exceeding 35 degrees so far. Clearly, the temperatures have been in the lower 30s so far.
In the past two to three years, the maximums have been invariably settling around 40 degrees Celsius. For instance, in March 2019 the region of Gujarat observed maximums exceeding the mark of 42 degrees.
This rise and fluctuation in the temperatures are linked with the weather activities over the northern plains. Whenever there is a wet spell in the plains of the North, there is a little dip in the temperatures, before showing a rise.
Also, the minimums and maximums are running below normal in the plains of North India due to the quick succession of the Western Disturbances. And, the same effect is trickling up to the entire region of Gujarat.
The weather usually remains clear in Gujarat during the month of February, March, and April. As per our meteorologists, we expect similar weather conditions to prevail for the next ten days or so. The temperatures will still remain suppressed and will remain in the lower 30s or 35s.
