Pre-Monsoon rains have been lashing many parts of the country and the month of March has ended on a rainy note for several states. However, the state of Gujarat remains dry and is reeling under intense weather conditions. Generally, also, during the Pre-Monsoon months of March, April, May remain dry unlike the other neighboring states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra which do tend to receive dust storm, thunderstorm and rainfall activities.

Currently, the weather conditions over Gujarat are dry and hot as it is one of the hottest pockets of India.

Yesterday, the maximum temperatures in Gujarat were seen as follows: Ahmedabad 39.5°C, Amreli 41.2°C, Baroda 39.9°C, Bhavnagar 39.0°C, Bhuj 39.5°C, Deesa 39.4°C, Dwarka 39.8°C, Idar 41.0°C, Kandla 34.7°C, Naliya 34.3°C, Rajkot 40.4°C and Surat 39.1°C.

However, talking about the pre-monsoon rains for the month of April some of the major cities of Gujarat have recorded their average rainfall for April as follows:Ahmedabad2.4 mm, Baroda 1.0 mm,Rajkot1.4 mm and Bhuj 1.5 mm. all these places have. Practically Gujarat has experienced zero rainy days.

The intense heat in Gujarat has been occurring since March. However, since the last few days marginal drop in temperatures has been seen due to the Western Disturbance which is moving across the Western Himalayas. Wind patterns have also changed.

Even though these winds will increase humidity and pre-monsoon will be experienced in the nearby states, but the temperatures will remain in high 30s. Thus, no relief from the hot weather conditions is expected but temperatures may drop by 1°C to 2°C.
