After a long wait, Southwest Monsoon has covered some parts of Gujarat. The Monsoon surge remained active over West Coast for quite some time now. So much so that moderate to heavy rainfall activity was confined up to South Konkan and Goa only.

While scattered rainfall has been observed over Gujarat as well, the region has not received good rains until now. In fact, many cities in Gujarat have remained almost dry throughout the June. Rain deficiency looms large over Gujarat for now.

Currently, an off shore trough is running from North Maharashtra to Kerala is expected and it is likely to become more active during the next few days. In fact, this trough is also expected to cover southern parts of Gujarat.

During the next 48 hours, good rainfall activity is likely over South Gujarat. Rains may occur over cities including Surat, Valsad, Amreli, Porbandar, Baroda and Ahmedabad. However, the Kutch region including Bhuj and Nalia will remain almost dry.

During the next 4 to 5 days, Southwest Monsoon is expected to advance even further and cover some more parts of Gujarat as well.
