Since the last few days dry weather is prevailing over all parts of Gujarat expect southern and southeastern parts of Gujarat. However, scattered light rain was observed over extreme southern parts, as in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Veraval record 0.5 mm of rain and trace of rain was observed over Vadodara.
Now as the well-marked low-pressure area lies over North Madhya Pradesh and the upper air system is tiling southwestwards with height, rainfall activity is expected to enhance over northern and eastern parts of Gujarat during the next 24 hours.
Places such as Deesa, Patan, Kheda and Gandhinagar will receive moderate to heavy rains, associated with strong gusty winds and lightening strike. Meanwhile, Bhuj and Naliya may only receive light rain and sky conditions will also remain cloudy.
Moderate to heavy rain and thundershower with isolated very heavy spells and strong gusty wind is likely over Ahmedabad, Amreli, Anand, Aravali, Banas Kantha, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Botad, Chota Udaipur, Devbhumi Dwarka, Doha, Gandhinagar, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kachchh, Kheda, Mahesana, Mahisagar, Marvi, Narmada, Navsari, Panch Mahals, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot, Sabar Kantha, Surat, Surendranagar, Tapi, Vadodara and Valsad districts of Gujarat during next 18 -24 hours.
Thereafter, after 24 hours, rains are likely to decrease over most parts of Gujarat, as only few coastal stations will receive light rainfall activity.
