While most parts of India are witnessing pre-Monsoon showers, the state of Gujarat is reeling under clear weather with sunny days. Due to this, hot day like conditions are prevalent over the region. Usually, the months between January and April are a dry period for Gujarat.

Temperatures over most parts of the state have risen four to six degrees above the normal average. In fact, in last 24 hours, Ahmedabad recorded the day maximum at 36.8°C, Amreli 37°C, Vadodara 36.4°C, Bhavnagar 35.6°C, Bhuj 34.8°C, Deesa 35.4°C, Kandla 34.3°C, Rajkot 36.3°C, Surat 36.2°C.

So, most districts of the state have observed maximum temperatures in the range of 34°C-37°C. This has led to extreme discomfort and uneasiness in weather over the area.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for the sweltering weather in Gujarat can be attributed to the dry easterly and northeasterly winds that are prevailing over the region. These winds are warm and moist in nature, thus contributed in the temperature to scale up. Also, an anti-cyclone is likely to form over South Rajasthan, that would in turn, bring dry and warm winds over the region.

Weathermen predict the situation to worsen in the coming days due to the absence of any significant weather system over the region.
