Gujarat, Rajasthan to witness drop in minimums

Most parts of Rajasthan have been witnessing above normal minimum temperatures by 6 to 8 degrees for the past few days. The weather conditions have remained dry over the region.

However, as predicted by Skymet Weather, northwestern parts of Rajasthan witnessed scattered light rains. Sri Ganganagar recorded 0.5 mm of rainfall.

Now that the induced cyclonic circulation persisting over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan is likely to weaken, fall in night temperature by 2 to 3 degrees can be expected in the next 24 hours. In fact, many districts in West Rajasthan observed drop in minimum temperatures by 3 to 4 degrees in the last 24 hours.

The reason can be credited to the change in wind pattern from warm and humid  southerly to dry and cold northerly winds, that will be affecting the weather over the state.

In spite of the drop in temperatures, minimums will settle above normal by 2 to 3 degrees, resulting in warm and sunny days along with cool and comfortable nights.

As the typical winter chill had almost abated, change in weather can be felt at several areas of North India including Gujarat. West Gujarat, Naliya and Okha have been observing below normal minimum temperatures. This can be attributed to the prevailing northerly winds. However, many parts of Saurashtra and Kutch region are still witnessing above normal minimums by 2 to 3 degrees.

According to Skymet Weather, dry and cold northerly or northwesterly winds will blow across the western parts of Gujarat, leading to drop in temperature by 2 to 3 degrees in the next 48 hours.

Temperatures will reach near normal, resulting in warm and sunny days with cool and comfortable nights.
