Gujarat, Rajasthan to remain wet; more rain likely in east, central India

September 30, 2013 3:04 PM |

Rain is expected to continue in south Rajasthan and east Gujarat for the next two days due to the ongoing low pressure area. The weather system continues to bring moisture from the Arabian Sea. Rain will be light to moderate with one or two places receiving heavy showers.

The weather system is now connected with the cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal as a west-east trough has formed between them across central India.

Due to this weather development, chances of rain have increased over central India. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Vidarbha will receive rain in next 48 to 72 hours. Rain will be light to moderate in these areas except Orissa that could witness heavy rain at one or two places.

This cyclonic circulation off Orissa coast will also bring rain in east Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal during the next three days. Temperatures will continue to remain below average by 3 to 4 degrees during the period.

However upper parts of east India i.e foothills of Uttar Pradesh, north Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will witness subdued rain and humid weather.

The weather system in the Bay has also changed the wind pattern in northeast India which will lead to subdued rain in the region after the next 24 hours.

Rain will also occur in southern peninsula during the next 48 hours. North coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka will have light to moderate rain during the period. Rain will remain subdued along the West coast or the Western ghat.
