Gujarat continues to witness moderate to heavy rains on Tuesday as well. Though extremely heavy three-digit showers were not recorded, these rains continue to deteriorate the weather condition of the state.
Already a few districts like Kandla and Valsad are reeling under flood situation and these rains had not done any good. However, Skymet Weather predicts that the intensity of rains are likely to start reducing but moderate intensity showers with one or two heavy spells are foreseen.

In fact, moderate rains have occurred over many parts of the state. In a span of last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Deesa observed 52 mm of rains, Rajkot 48 mm, Valsad 43 mm, Surat 36 mm, Okha 30 mm, Veraval 24 mm, Bhuj 21 mm, Ahmedabad 17.5 mm, and Diu witnessed 8 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for such flooding rains in parts of Gujarat can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is over Kutch and adjoining South Rajasthan. Moreover, a trough is also extending from South Gujarat to Kerala. The combination of these weather systems gave good rains over Gujarat.
However, the intensity of rains will reduce and there is the possibility of moderate showers with isolated heavy spells only for the next 2-3 days. Thereafter, the depression which was over Odisha coast is likely to weaken gradually into a well-marked low-pressure area and further into a low-pressure area moving westward towards Gujarat.
On account of this, by July 23, a fresh spell of rain is expected and once again Gujarat will be witnessing heavy to extremely rains. As of now though a short duration relief from heavy rains thereby resulting in relief from flooding roads is anticipated.
