The state of Gujarat has seen fairly widespread heavy to very rains have been observed in many parts specifically, the cities of Rajkot, Kandla, Ahmedabad, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Naliya have witnessed hefty rains in the last 24 hours.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Rajkot was the rainiest pocket in Gujarat with 197 mm of rains while Kandla recorded 162 mm of rainfall, Vallabh Vidyanagar 152 mm, Amreli 142 mm, Porbandar 116 mm, Ahmedabad 109 mm, Naliya 103 mm, Bhavnagar 105 mm, Okha 95 mm, and Dwarka 79 mm, Bhuj 48 mm, Deesa 46 mm, and Valsad 52 mm of rains.
The depression has now weakened into a well marked low pressure area and will continue to give some rains of light to moderate intensity with isolated heavy spells over Saurashtra and Kutch region today as well. However, rain activities over Gujarat region will reduce significantly and only light rains with isolated moderate spells over one or two pockets.
By tomorrow, we expect the system to move further west over South Sindh of Pakistan. Thus, weather of Gujarat will become almost dry and this rainy spell will come to an end by tomorrow.
These heavy rains resulted in water logging in many parts. Rajkot has seen flooding conditions due to almost 200 mm in just 24 hours.
