Parts of Gujarat continued with severe weather activity for the 6th straight day. Heavy weather has lashed mostly the coast of Saurashtra and South Coastal Gujarat. Porbandar, Dwarka and Okha have been struggling to find a break to recover and rehabilitate. Earlier, most parts of these cities were lashed with damaging rains repeatedly, crippling life and routine activity. The coastal town of Dwarka recorded another deluge of 181 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours. The other two cities Porbandar and Okha registered a moderate total of 57mm and 49mm rainfall during this period. Conditions are likely to improve over these battered parts and the post may shift to parts of central and south Gujarat.

The changing scenario will now bring the left-out parts of central Gujarat into action. The coastline of South Gujarat, as such, has been withered with repeated onslaught of inclement weather activity.  Surat and Valsad have recorded 149 mm and 74 mm rainfall, in the past 24 hours. Northern and central parts were spared of any such severe activity. But, the heavy rainfall belt will now shift from Saurashtra to the interiors of Gujarat and its south coast.

As predicted earlier, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over the capital cities Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Godhra, Dahod, Kheda, Chhota Nagpur and Panchmahal in the next 24 hours. The coastline of Gujarat from Vapi, Navsari, Valsad to Surat, Bharuch will also be vulnerable to heavy rains during this period.  Some moderate to heavy showers will breach parts of Saurashtra, across Mahuva, Bhavnagar and Veraval.  The battered cities of Porbandar, Dwarka and Okha will find big relief now. The weather activity over complete Saurashtra will recede tomorrow.  Heavy weather activity will withdraw, even from central Gujarat.  However,  heavy to moderate showers will continue over South Coastal Gujarat for the next 48 hours and a break thereafter. The intense weather activity will get another round over the state, commencing around midweek next.
