Gujarat floods which wreaked havoc over the state and caused normal life to come to standstill have now taken a backseat, Rainfall activity has taken a break and almost dry weather conditions have taken over the region.

However, the residents of the flood affected areas are still under the trauma of the disaster they just witnessed.
After about a week of the flooding rains over the region, the state revenue department has declared Patan as well as Banaskantha as disaster affected districts. A Gazette notification was issued wherein the department made the announcement.
As per the Gujarat State Disaster Management Act of 2003 provisions, these areas were declared as affected. The notification stated that both Banaskantha as well as Patan were battered by heavy rainfall. Also, these areas are expected to remain under the disaster affected category until August 15.
Out of the 218 deaths in Gujarat due to flooding conditions, 61 people had lost their lives in Banaskantha alone. Not only this, seven people were also killed in the neighbouring region of Patan.
Gujarat CM, Vijay Rupani has been in the flood-affected areas for the past five days for monitoring relief operations. In this timespan, Rupani has visited many towns and villages of both Patan and Banaskantha.
