Floods situation remained grim as heavy rains continued to lash parts of Gujarat during the last 24 hours. Rains are not relenting over Ahmedabad since last seven to eight days moderate to heavy and occasionally extremely heavy rains have been lashing Ahmedabad.
The death toll has increased to 125 and over 50000 people have rescued, so far. The state administration has shutdown the schools and colleges on Friday too.
In wake of incessant rains, tons of water have been released from Dharoi dam and the Vasna barrage, leading to swelling of Sabarmati river.
Rains have poured over the state mercilessly leading to massive floods situation in some parts of the state. However, rains over the state have now reduced marginally as compared to three digit rains almost in every region.

During the last 24 hours also Ahmedabad received 46 mm of rain, while Valsad recorded whopping 162 mm. Light to moderate rain also occurred in many other districts like New Kandla, Surat, Surendranagar, Rajkot and Baroda. The intensity of rain has also reduced over Saurashtra and Kutch.
These rains can be attributed to the three weather systems persisting over the region. A well-marked Low-Pressure area persists over Northwest Madhya Pradesh, while a Cyclonic circulation is over Central Rajasthan. Another cyclonic circulation is over Gujarat. With these combined effects of the weather systems, we expect moderate to heavy rains to continue over Gujarat.
