Southwest Monsoon continues to vigorous over Coastal Gujarat, resulting in some very heavy showers over the coastal areas. Kandla has recorded whopping 210 mm of rain in span of nine hours from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm on Monday.

All thanks to the cyclonic circulation over South Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan, which has kept the weather conditions conducive for rains to continue.

Intense thunderclouds developed over the region during the afternoon hours, which took a vigorous turn thereafter. Several areas of Gujarat such as Rajkot are already reeling under floods.

Weathermen predict that light to moderate rains will continue over the state. Some places could also seen some sharp and intense spell of rains.

Gujarat floods have been continuing to wreak havoc over the state. Heavy rains, floods, swollen rivers along with overflowing reservoirs have cost even a few lives in a few parts of the state of Gujarat.

In fact, as per reports at least 9 people have been killed and around 400 people have been rescued by the NDRF and the Indian Air Force after heavy rains caused Chaos over the state.

There was a slight improvement in the rescue operations yesterday as heavy rains to car back seat from many parts of the state.

While isolated heavy rains did occur over a few areas in the past 24 hours most parts did not witness very heavy showers.

During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Naliya recorded 60 mm of rain, Okha 40 mm, Dwarka 19 mm, Ahmedabad 9 mm, and Rajkot 6 mm of rainfall.

At least six state Highways remain closed on Sunday. As of now, over 2000 people have been sent to safer areas.

People are being saved even aerially by the use of helicopters. IAF choppers have been doing the job of trying to airlift stranded people in many parts.

While rains are expected to reduce over the region but light to moderate showers over many areas will continue during the next 24 hours.
