Gujarat drenched in Monsoon rains, more to follow

During last 24 hours, Saurashtra and Kutch has received 19% surplus rainfall. The wicked part about this rainfall was that it brought the rainfall deficiency down to 60%. This rainfall deficiency was more than 80% for the region.

Heavy to very heavy rain is expected over southern Gujarat as well as other parts of Gujarat on July 8-9. Though June was has seen very less rainfall over Gujarat but July is turning out to be a better month.

By first half of July the rain figures of Gujarat are expected to make the rainfall deficiency to come to normal. The onset of Monsoon was delayed over Gujarat but July is turning out to be better.

These rains are very crucial for Kharif crop. The sowing may get delayed somewhat but these rains will certainly help the farmers.

Extremely heavy rainfall is expected around July 9-10.

During last 24 rains fairly widespread rainfall has occurred over the state. Places like Valsad (Bulsar) received a whopping 120 mm of rainfall in last 24 hour other places like Surat received 48 mm of rainfall, Amreli received 72 mm, Mahua 17 mm, Bhuj – 6 mm and Porbandar received 2 mm of rainfall.
