Central India has been witnessing continuous rains for the last few days. This is due to the cyclonic circulation which has been hovering over Maharashtra and adjoining areas. As of now, the weather system is lying over north Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining areas of Gujarat and southwest Madhya Pradesh.

In wake of this weather system, Gujarat has been receiving good showers for the last few days. However, rains have increased during last 24 hours.

Surat received a whopping 103 mm of rainfall, Bhuj 56.8 mm, Rajkot 23 mm, Amreli 10 mm, Bhavnagar 5 mm, Porbandar 3.8 mm, Ahmedabad 3.6 mm, Veraval 17.4 mm and Kandla 1.2 mm of rainfall.

On Monday, heavy showers in several parts of Gujarat claimed at least one life and washed out most of the garba events for the night in places like Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot.

Skymet Weather predicts that on and off rains are likely over Gujarat for another 24 to 48 hours.

As have been reiterated by Skymet Weather, the southern parts of Gujarat continue to receive good showers even after the end of the four-month-long Monsoon season.

However, the ongoing spell of rainfall is not only hampering Navratri celebrations in the state but also damaging the Kharif crops which have reached the harvesting stage.
