Gujarat and Rajasthan to experience hot and uncomfortable weather

April 15, 2015 1:00 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Till a few days back Northwest and Central India were observing pleasant weather conditions as prolonged spell of rain and cloud cover in the region had pulled down the maximum temperatures by 4-5 degrees. This weather condition is going to prevail for another 24 hours as scattered light rain is expected in the region. Thereafter the weather is going to become absolutely dry and the temperatures are going to rise.

The humid and cool winds that were blowing from the east and southwest direction will change to become northwesterlies, which are warm in nature. In the next three days, dry and warm winds coupled with clear skies and bright sunshine will push up the temperatures in the region. Some places may see the day temperature settling close to 40°C or beyond.

Currently Gujarat and Rajasthan are observing comfortable weather conditions. For instance Ahmedabad in Gujarat recorded 35°C as the maximum temperature on Tuesday, which is 5 degrees below normal. Baroda saw the day temperature settle 4 degrees below normal at 35°C.

Similarly Kota in Rajasthan saw the maximum settle at 31°C, which is almost 8 degrees below the monthly average. Bikaner also observed a drop of 4 degrees Celsius in the day temperature.

Unusually high number of Western Disturbances in March and first week of April had led to pleasant weather conditions in the region. But now the WDs will largely be confined to the upper latitudes and negligible weather will be experienced in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Central India. This spell of dry weather is likely to last for a longer period in the region.
