Government postpones JEE Mains, CBSE, and other University exams in view of Coronavirus

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday i.e. March 18, postponed the ongoing examinations for 10 and 12 classes till March 31. The same has been declared by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. This decision has been made in view of the coronavirus outbreak.  Not only this, IIT- JEE Mains will also get rescheduled and the updated dates are expected to be announced after 31 March 2020.

The Ministry has also asked for the rescheduling of all the evaluation work after March 31. This includes the evaluation work of CBSE, NIOS, and University Exams so far.

During the period, re-examinations that were rescheduled to be held for Northeast Delhi candidates will also be further rescheduled.

The ministry in a statement said, 'The maintenance of the academic calendar, as well as, exam schedule is important. But, at the same time, the safety and the security of the students who are appearing in the examinations, and also of their parents and teachers are also equally important.'

According to the Health Ministry, India's total number of Corona cases as of yesterday, stand at 151, also including 25 foreign nationals. However, globally, the number of cases has reached over 200,000. There have been over 8,010 reported deaths across 157 countries as of now.
