The West Coast of the country has been one of the rainiest regions of the country. So much so that the region has witnessed a few heavy to very heavy spells of rains. However, Coastal Karnataka as well as the Kerala region witnessed lesser rains as compared to the Konkan region.

In the last 24 hours also Konkan region recorded very heavy rains while moderate to heavy showers were observed over parts of Coastal Karnataka as well as Kerala.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Mangalore recorded a good 47 mm of rainfall, Karwar 36.4 mm, Kannur 37 mm, Karipur 36 mm, Madikeri 27 mm, Kochi 32 mm, Kozhikode 23 mm and Honavar 7 mm.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the presence of the off shore trough which is currently running along the West Coast from Gujarat Coast up to Kerala Coast. Thus, good showers have been occurring over the region, all thanks to these weather systems.
As per weathermen at Skymet, good showers are expected to occur over both Coastal Karnataka as well as the coastal parts of Kerala region. The possibility of isolated showers over some areas cannot be ruled out.
